Welcome to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Shipyard Plantation. Shipyard is a favorite plantation on Hilton Head. Though the smallest of the major plantations (or, possibly, because it is the smallest), it exudes a warm feeling of hospitality, welcome. Shipyard is centrally located, beautifully maintained, covered by lush tropical vegetation, and alive with natural wildlife galore. It has 3 premier par-36 golf courses, a world-class tennis facility at Shipyard Racquet Club run by Dennis Van der Meer, miles of paved bike and running paths, and access to 12-miles of white sand beach.

Though nearly totally residential, the plantation is also home to The Crowne Plaza Resort, a luxury international hotel. This provides the convenience of onsite restaurants, a gift shop for daily newspapers and sundries, and a lounge with evening entertainment. Shipyard is a limited-access, gated plantation with two guarded gates.
